When Dolce is appointed as the schools new catering provider your current kitchen staff transfer across under TUPE regulations. This is employment law under which all caterers must operate. Find out how we train and motivate your kitchen team to bring out the best in the service.
The kitchen team will be trained on our menus, cooking techniques, ordering systems and customer care. We also make sure certification is kept up to date and NVQ’s are encouraged. Training is on-going to ensure staff progression.
Throughout their employment, our staff will receive refresher training to make sure that they understand why we do what we do. This is usually delivered through toolbox talks specially designed to cover areas specific to client needs. The nature of the contract and underlying focus will be communicated to our staff as a matter of course and we monitor their progress using random site audits. Staff that are well trained and supported are more motivated and more of an asset to the company and schools.
To ensure a closely managed service our Area Managers cover on average eighteen schools (far less than the national average). The service will be reviewed either termly or bi-termly taking on board feedback from the school, parents and pupils. Our Area Managers often progress from school kitchens giving them relevant experience and ensuring a hands-on approach. This also encourages respect from their kitchen staff as they lead from the front.
In the event of sickness we provide cover for your kitchen. This can be relief staff, our mobile trainers or even your Area Manager.
A forum for all cooks on School Grid to share thoughts and host Q&As.
This is a chat window where catering staff can share ideas. It is a great way to make staff feel like they are part of a team and it shows that we are listening to them.
