Easy Banana Recipes to Make in a Hurry

Bananas are a popular fruit amongst little ones and it contains plenty of nutritious benefits to keep parents satisfied too. So in conjunction with National Banana Day this April we’ve decided to share some easy Dolce recipes that you can quickly put together at home or get the children involved to help develop those cooking skills.

Banana Bread Recipe

Ingredients

Plain flour – 170 g/6 oz
Baking Powder – 18 g/0.6 oz
Bananas – 420 g/15 oz
Demerara Sugar – 125 g/4 oz
Margarine – 140 g/5 oz
Eggs x 2
Milk – 60 ml/2.1 fl oz

Method
  1. Sieve the flour and baking powder into a mixing bowl.
  2. Roughly chop up the bananas and add the rest of the ingredients in the order shown in the ingredients list.
  3. Use a beater (or mixing machine if available) and mix at a slow speed until all ingredients start to come together.
  4. Switch to a medium speed and beat for a further 1 minute.
  5. Divide the mixture into greased tins.
  6. Bake in the oven at Gas 5, 375F or 190C for 30 mins.
  7. Cool and slice to serve.

Ingredients

Dark Soft Brown Sugar – 100 g/4 oz
Bananas – 400 g/14 oz
Margarine – 110 g/4 oz
Plain Flour – 225 g/8 oz
Oats – 70 g/2 oz
Boiling water – 675 ml/23.8 fl oz
White Sugar – 50 g/2 oz

Optional topping such as custard or ice cream.

Method
  1. Slice the bananas and place in baking dish, then top with dark brown sugar.
  2. Place the flour in a bowl and rub through the margarine till it resembles breadcrumbs. Stir in the sugar and oats.
  3. Top the bananas with the oaty crumble and put in a moderate oven (170’c) until the crumble is cooked and golden.
  4. Dish out a serving and add a topping of your choice.

If baking isn’t quite your style but you still wish to get into the banana day spirit, a traditional banana split dessert is the perfect way to go. Slice a banana and add your favourite toppings, it’s as simple as that!
