Pancake recipes for all

Check out the three recipes below for some of the nicest pancakes you’ll ever try.

American Pancakes

Light, fluffy and a firm favourite.

For the pancake aficionado, this soft and fluffy American pancake recipe from our Dolce chefs is sure to delight your taste buds.
Serves 4 to 6

Ingredients

  • 300ml milk

  • 2½ teaspoons baking powder

  • 225g plain flour

  • 30g butter (plus extra for frying)

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 teaspoon white sugar

  • A pinch of salt

Method

  1. The simplest method is to place all ingredients into a food processor or mixer and blend until smooth.
    Alternatively, mix all the dry ingredients together in a bowl, make a well in the centre, then add the melted butter, eggs and milk. Mix well with a spoon.

  2. Heat a frying pan on the hob over a medium heat.

  3. Pour a small amount of batter into the pan. When bubbles begin to form on the surface, flip the pancake.
    Cook for around 1 minute on each side until golden.

Serving Suggestions

Whipped or clotted cream, maple syrup, hazelnuts, chocolate spread, blueberries, raspberries, banana slices, yoghurt, or for a treat, M&M’s.


Traditional British Pancakes

A classic recipe, made the Dolce way.

For the traditionalists. No ready-made mixes here. Fresh, simple and made from scratch.
Serves 4, two pancakes per person

Ingredients

  • 3 eggs

  • 300g plain flour

  • 400ml milk

  • 1 tablespoon butter

  • Spray oil (if needed)

Method

  1. Add all ingredients to a food processor or mixer and blend until smooth.
    Alternatively, mix the dry ingredients together, make a well in the centre, then add the melted butter, eggs and milk. Mix thoroughly.

  2. Heat a frying pan on the hob over a medium heat.

  3. Pour or ladle a thin layer of batter into the pan, tilting to coat the base evenly.
    Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, or until the underside is golden, then flip and cook the other side.

Tip: If the pancakes begin to stick, lightly spray the pan with oil.

Serving Suggestions

Whipped cream, sugar, lemon juice and zest, blueberries, honey, golden syrup or cinnamon.


Vegan Pancakes

A great plant-based alternative.

Perfect for those following a vegan lifestyle or looking to try something different.
Serves 4 to 6

Ingredients

  • 300g self-raising flour

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

  • 400ml oat or soya milk

Method

  1. Whisk all ingredients together in a large bowl, except the milk.

  2. Gradually add the milk while whisking continuously to avoid lumps.

  3. Heat a frying pan on the hob over a medium heat with a little oil.

  4. Spoon the batter into the centre of the pan, around two tablespoons per pancake.
    Cook for 3 to 4 minutes, flip, then cook for a further 2 to 3 minutes.

Serving Suggestions

Lemon, maple syrup, blueberries, strawberries, watermelon, vegan chocolate chips, walnuts or frozen vegan yoghurt.
