Giving students a restaurant-like experience

We are excited to start the new academic year with a stunning refurbishment of the catering facilities at several of our new high school sites.

Below, we take a look at the innovative designs that mean that students will now be greeted with clearly defined destination points offering high street menus and contemporary food choices. Utilising fresh local produce in creating exciting, popular menu choices that are served on crockery or environmentally friendly compostables.

The Refurbishment

Walking into the various schools’ new look canteens, with their rustic, bespoke, hand made refurbishment, helps to give the students a restaurant like experience. Dolce’s chefing team and site designers have worked hard over the holidays to implement a bespoke, handmade dining facility that has a contemporary high street feel, breaking away from the school dinners mould.

The presence of which is extensive from wood cladding and light up signage to food courts with TV menu displays and branded signage.

A hydration station housing demijohns that are kept filled with fruit infused water can also been seen below. These will be free for students and staff to use throughout the day.

The Food Revolution

Offering the best in world street food alongside both traditional and contemporary freshly cooked favourites we will be providing a wide range of culinary choices. Inspiration has been drawn from modern food festivals to develop contemporary dishes from around the world, bringing something new and enticing for students. The offer includes live cooking specials on large paella pans and woks, varied and well-thought out traditional meals and an extensive grab and go menu.

Saving the World One Souvlaki at a Time…

It is also reassuring to know that each wrapper and box at the school is compostable and recycled, pushing the green agenda and setting front-facing standards to the most important customers. Students and staff will be offered a sit in or takeaway option with wooden trays and trendy metal dishes available as well as branded food festival style cartons, boxes and wooden cutlery. Meat and vegetables are fresh, locally sourced and ethically produced, from Free Range to Fairtrade to MSC.

We love the new-look canteens, and we are certain the students will too!
